Model new work by acclaimed artist Wayne White, at the moment on view with Joshua Liner Gallery.
The artist, artwork director, illustrator, and puppeteer, who designed units and puppets for “Pee-wee’s Playhouse,” imbues his text-based works with sardonic humor and distinct shade combos. For this ongoing sequence, which he started within the 2000s, White paints anachronistic textual content and phrases onto classic offset lithographs, seamlessly integrating the letters into bucolic landscapes and seascapes. The seemingly random juxtaposition of textual content and classic imagery is thought-provoking and virtually all the time humorous.
